On November 3, Dr. Michael Youssef preached at what is considered the largest evangelistic crusade in Cairo, Egypt. Approximately 17,000 attended the event and more than 7,500 people responded to the Gospel and chose to follow Jesus.
Largest Evangelistic Crusade
Dr. Michael, founder of the Leading The Way ministry, shared with CBN News about the wonderful work of God amid the Gospel event. He recalled that about a year ago, pastors and leaders from Cairo, Egypt invited him to their city for this evangelistic crusade. Alongside the local churches in Egypt, Dr. Michael prayed for the event throughout the planning period.
He shared, “There have been people who have been praying around the clock for nearly 12 months.”
As an answer to their prayer, thousands of people gathered to listen to the message of hope. “I always say this is God’s answer to the prayers of the faithful people there,” Youssef added. “He [God] responded to their prayers and their faith and gave them what is going to be now an igniting of a movement that is going to continue. It’s not going to stop. We praise God for all those people.”
“Foretaste of heaven”
The 75-year-old minister recalled, “It was an amazing experience. Past midnight, people did not want to leave and said, ‘We just feel the Holy Spirit here,’ and it was a foretaste of Heaven. Just praising God.”
When the war between Israel and Hamas started, there was a call to cancel the crusade. But, Dr. Michael believed that letting people know of the Gospel is God’s desire.
He told CBN News, “Can you imagine an announcement made that the evangelist is not coming because he is concerned about the situation in the Middle East? What kind of a God do I worship? I am going no matter what,” he said. “And I knew that I could trust God, this was God’s plan, and we want to be on His plan.”
Dr. Michael reported that the church in Egypt is growing and he urges all believers to pray for God’s continuous work in the Middle East.
